Since spring of 2018, the locality has started selective waste collection, following the model of a small town in Italy. In the meantime, this type of waste management has become a well-known practice, but at the beginning, in Bihor County, only in Sălacea the 6-fraction collection system was introduced.

Under this system, they separate:

• plastic waste,
• -paper and cardboard,
• -glass,
• -biodegradable waste and food waste,
• -waste suitable for composting,
• -household waste.
